Here is a brief summary of the teaching of this subject we have had this winter here in Norway. In this first session we looked at four main areas.
Historical retrospect on 2nd World War:
• A conflict between neighbours in Europe with various alliances
• The reason for the war with economic decline, unemployment, growing
anti-Semitism and belief in the German superpower
• Norwegian heavy water sabotage - delaying the process of developing

• The creation of UN rules of war, dilemmas and consequences
Conflicts of national character:
• Alta action, a conflict between ethnic groups, conservationists, the politics
on the left side in Norwegian and the government. The conflict
revolved around whether to expand or preserve
untouched nature.
• Political games, civil disobedience and conflict resolution
Religious conflicts related to freedom of expression:
• Use of violence and threats
• Terror
• The attack on Charlie Hebdo and freedom of speech in Paris, a French,
satirical weekly magazine
Conflicts at school:
• Various conflicts between pupils and adults
• Roleplaying
• Conflict resolution and strategies
