Here is a brief summary of the teaching of this subject we have had this winter here in Norway. In this first session we looked at four main areas.

Historical retrospect on 2nd World War:
• A conflict between neighbours in Europe with various alliances
• The reason for the war with economic decline, unemployment, growing anti-Semitism and belief in the German superpower
• Norwegian heavy water sabotage - delaying the process of developing nuclear weapons.  Further reading here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_heavy_water_sabotage
This
winter it has been shown a new TV series about this action that has been very popular.
• The creation of UN rules of war, dilemmas and consequences

Conflicts of national character:
• Alta action, a conflict between ethnic groups, conservationists, the politics on the left side in Norwegian and the government. The conflict revolved around whether to expand or preserve untouched nature.
• Political games, civil disobedience and conflict resolution

Religious conflicts related to freedom of expression:
• Use of violence and threats
• Terror
• The attack on Charlie Hebdo and freedom of speech in Paris, a French, satirical weekly magazine
